Iterative dual energy reconstruction for noisy microCT images

چکیده
Aims Dual energy CT imaging enables discrimination of materials with similar attenuation coefficients. By acquiring two CT scans at different X-ray energies of the same sample, the energy dependence of the linear attenuation coefficient can be exploited to differentiate between materials. Dual energy CT has been widely used to distinguish bone from vascular contrast agents that contain elements with a K-edge in the imaging energy range, such as iodine, barium or lead.

Three Dimensional Cone-beam Reconstruction of Micro Computed Tomography in the Breast Specimen
Traditionally, the specimen obtained from a breast biopsy can only be examined by a microscope. Although the resolution of microscope is high, it can only examine one thin section at a time. Hence, the microcalcifications next to the observed section may be missed. To solve for this problem, we acquire the specimen by a 3D micro computed tomography (microCT) with electron bombarded charged coup...
متن کاملEvaluation of iterative reconstruction method and attenuation correction on brain dopamine transporter SPECT using anthropomorphic striatal phantom
Objective(s): The aim of this study was to determine the optimal reconstruction parameters for iterative reconstruction in different devices and collimators for dopamine transporter (DaT) single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). The results were compared between filtered back projection (FBP) and different attenuation correction (AC) methods. Methods: An anthropomorphic striatal phant...
متن کاملA Model-Based Iterative Algorithm for Dual-Energy X-Ray CT Reconstruction
Recent developments in dual-energy X-ray CT have shown a number of benefits over standard CT for object separation, contrast enhancement, artifact reduction, and material composition assessment. As with traditional CT, model-based iterative approaches to reconstruction offer the opportunity to reduce noise and artifacts in dual energy reconstructions. However, previous approaches to model-based...
متن کاملIterative reconstruction for segmentation of trabecular bone from in vivo microCT
Aims. MicroCT allows the in vivo imaging of small animal bone structures. To detect subtle alterations in bone structures over time or between different mouse models, a sensitive segmentation method is required. The segmentation becomes problematic when image resolution decreases, as is the case for in vivo imaging. Murine trabecular bone can have dimensions similar to the system resolution, le...

The purpose of this study was to compare renal cyst pseudoenhancement between virtual monochromatic spectral (VMS) and conventional polychromatic 120-kVp images obtained during the same abdominal computed tomography (CT) examination and among images reconstructed using filtered back projection (FBP), adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR), and model-based iterative reconstruction ...
